Abigail 鈥淎bby鈥� Loya鈥檚 path to teaching at 黑料吃瓜 started in the same place many of her students are today. A Winnemucca native, Abby discovered electrical and instrumentation while still in high school, entered 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 Maintenance Training Cooperative program and went on to spend nine years working at Phoenix Mine.

When an opportunity to teach brought her back to 黑料吃瓜, Abby found a new way to use that industry experience. She has shaped her classes around the practical knowledge students will need when they enter the field, including lessons she wishes she had known herself. What began as a career change that allowed her to spend more time with her family has become something deeply rewarding, especially when students have that moment when everything clicks or return later to tell her that what they learned in class is exactly what they鈥檙e seeing on the job.
